South St. Louis home damaged in overnight blaze

SOUTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KSDK) - A one alarm fire broke out in an unoccupied home on the 3700 block of California Sunday morning.

The St. Louis Fire Department received a call just after 3 a.m. and when firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was fully involved. The first responders could not enter the building because of the concern of their firefighters' safety.

It took 90 minutes to contain the fire to the building. The severity of the damage has made the building a total loss.

Officials have not reported any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. and KSDK NewsChannel 5 will have more information as it becomes available.
