Imperial (KSDK)--Law enforcement Major Case Squad members are investigating a body found in the woods in Imperial.
Captain Mark Tulgetske, of the Herculaneum Police, said they are not yet releasing the victim's name, but it is the body of a 34-year-old white woman from Jefferson County. Tulgetske said they do not know her exact address.
The body was found Sunday morning. Investigators got a call about 8:30 after someone reported what looked like somebody lying in the woods.
The body was located along Butler Valley Drive, at the intersection of Overy. Butler Valley Drive is right across Dry Fork Road from the Brookview Heights Subdivision.
Tulgetske said it appears there is some trauma to the body but investigators do not yet know the woman's cause of death.
"It's a pretty remote area," said Tulgetske. "There are some residences close by but they're sporadic. She was in a wooded area that's basically in a wedge between 2 roadways. Very few residents in that area. We've been in contact with some and we are canvassing others at this point."
If anyone saw anything suspicious in that area, or knows what may have happened to this woman, you can call Major Case Squad investigators at 636-797-6234. They are working out of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office East Zone facility on Windsor Harbor Road.
Tulgetske said, "If anyone would have any information... we're talking about an area of Old Lemay Ferry Road, Dry Fork Road in that area of Antonia-Imperial. Any information at all that might be helpful, please give us a call."
