ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A portion of a historic building collapsed this afternoon in the 1300 block of North Garrison. It was the former location of Tillie's Corner Grocery Store.
St. Louis Fire Department officials say wind was a likely cause.
Fire officials say the building collapsed onto a corner of an occupied building next door. It blocked the exit of the occupied building.
While fire officials were talking to Carla Alexander, who was working in the occupied building, a wall attached to that building also collapsed. Firefighters had to rescue Alexander through a second story window.
No one was hurt.
Fire officials say in high winds like we experienced Thursday, collapse is a hazard for buildings that are structurally vulnerable.
