JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Law officers in Jefferson City are investigating a shooting that left one person dead another injured.

Police received a report about a shooting at 7:22 p.m. on Thursday. The Jefferson City News Tribune reports that officers stopped a vehicle near a drive-in about a half-mile from the state Capitol and that one person ran away. Police say one man was found dead in the back seat of the car with gunshot wounds.

A second shooting victim was discovered after officers followed a blood trail. The victim was taken by ambulance to a Jefferson City hospital and later by helicopter to a hospital in Columbia.
