(CNN) - Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor gets personal about her life and career in a new memoir.
In "My Beloved World," she recounts candidly about growing up poor in The Bronx, her father's death from alcoholism, self-doubts about her looks, a brief failed marriage and her professional path.
The book ends in 1992 as she takes the bench.
Sotomayor was named to the Supreme Court in 2009 after 17 years as a federal judge.
The 58-year-old is the first Latina to sit on the high court.
