ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Olympic speed skater and gold medalist Dan Jansen made a stop in St. Louis today.
He won gold in the thousand meters in the 1994 winter games in Lillehammer, Norway.
Jansen was in town promoting the Winter Olympics that are a year away in Sochi, Russia.
Jansen celebrated gold in Lillehammer, but the win was bittersweet. Six years earlier Jansen fell during a race in the 1988 games, right after learning he lost his sister to leukemia.
Thursday he spread his motivational message to employees at Liberty Mutual, a lead sponsor of the Olympics Games.
Jansen met and took photos with fans and talked about the up and coming talent in speed skating.
