Friday morning New York children's book author June Eding was at the Humane Society of Missouri to meet the injured pup and his caretakers.
Trooper is the hero of her upcoming book about hope and healing.

The puppy has made a remarkable recovery and is currently living in foster care at a ranch in Union, Missouri. He is expected to be adopted soon.
