CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Firefighters battled a two alarm fire that destroyed the Bandanas Bar-B-Q restaurant in Crystal City Wednesday morning.
Fire officials arrived to the location on South Truman Boulevard and found smoke rising from the building. The initial report indicated a trash dumpster was on fire at the rear of the building, but as it turns out, the culprit was a smoker sitting against the back wall of the structure.
The wind helped to spread the fire from the smoker to the building. Initial indications are the building is a total loss.
A second alarm was sounded after the fire continued to spread throughout the building. A half dozen fire departments were called to assist in putting the fire out.
The restaurant was closed at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.
A portion of US Highway 61-67 remains closed between Bailey Road and east Beffa due to the emergency equipment which remains on the scene.
