ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A judge in St. Louis entered a consent judgment Tuesday that the city of Desloge cannot prohibit the distribution of leaflets on city streets and sidewalks.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri filed a lawsuit in November on behalf of Frank Ancona and members of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. The group planned to hand out leaflets in Desloge until they learned their actions would violate a city ordinance.
ACLU spokesperson Diane Balogh says Desloge city officials said their ordinance restricted all solicitation because they considered it the distribution of handbills.
