JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - The head of the Missouri Department of Transportation has resigned.
MoDOT Director Kevin Keith is taking an immediate leave of absence and plans to retire July 1, 2013, according to MoDOT Commission Chairman Joe Carmichael.
Chief Engineer Dave Nichols will assume the role of interim director for at least one year while the department looks for a permanent replacement.
Dave Nichols has worked for MoDOT for 29 years, previously serving the department's first director of program delivery, and district engineer for the Northwest District in St. Joseph.
