Aly Raisman on competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics: 'That's the goal'

Aly Raisman told Ellen Degeneres that she plans to compete in the Tokyo Olympics. When Degeneres asked Raisman about it during her appearance on the Ellen Show on Wednesday, she said:

“That’s the goal. I’m going to take off a little bit of time, just because I think I need a little bit of a break. I took a full year off in 2012. I’m going to do the same thing, take a year off, and then I’ll begin training again.”

Raisman will be 26-years-old by the time Tokyo rolls around, which is on the older end of the age spectrum for gymnasts.

Degeneres also brought Raisman’s incredible parents out so they could watch a video of themselves freaking out while they watched their daughter compete in Rio.

“My dad looks like he’s going to throw up,” Raisman said.

Then a dude dressed up in work out gear snuck up behind them and tried to scare them, but they didn’t really jump that much. As it turns out, watching your daughter flip around on a tiny beam is lot is a lot more conducive to heart palpitations than a man sent out as a gimmick on the set of Ellen.
