Joplin, MO (KSDK) - Major League Baseball's Ironman made a stop in Joplin Wednesday to help build houses with Habitat for Humanity.

Former Baltimore Orioles star Cal Ripken Jr. teamed up with the charity and Energizer to help build two houses in the heart of Joplin's tornado damage.

Dozens of St. Louis Energizer employees also helped.

Ripken picked up a hammer and started work on one home's flooring.

This was his first time to Joplin since the tornado. He couldn't believe the damage and the progress that has come after the storm.
