Tony La Russa announcing his retirement just days after winning the 2011 World Series
St. Louis (KSDK) -- Former St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will be honored at Busch Stadium when the team retires his number 10 jersey.
The ceremony will before the Cardinals game at 7 p.m. Friday. Former players from the Cardinals, White Sox and A's will be on hand.
La Russa retired last year after 16 seasons in the Cardinals' dugout.
During his reign, the team won three National League pennants and two World Series.
La Russa's number 10 will be the 12th number retired by the Cardinals and the first since Whitey Herzog was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
