Rapids re-sign Cummings to multi-year contract

Commerce City, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids re-signed forward Omar Cummings on Friday to a multi-year contract.

The 29-year-old Cummings is in his sixth year with the Rapids and has 36 goals and 26 assists in 130 regular-season appearances, including 101 starts. He has played 10 games this season and has three goals and an assist.

"Omar is one of the longest-serving members of our team, and has been a positive presence both on and off the field for years," said Rapids technical director Paul Bravo. "His talent, speed and work rate have made him an All- Star and an MLS Cup winner, and we're pleased to extend his contract."

Cummings scored a career high 14 goals in 2010, when Colorado won the MLS Cup. On the international level, he has eight goals in 28 matches for Jamaica.

Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
