St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- St. Louis Blues Assistant Coach Scott Mellanby is leaving the organization to explore other opportunities, Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong said Wednesday.

45-year-old Mellanby has been a part of the Blues staff for the last two seasons, and he is also a 21-year NHL veteran.

Mellanby was a player for the Blues for four seasons, appearing in 235 games.

Mellanby says that after two years of coaching with the Blues he has realized his true passion lies in the hockey operations department, which he plans to pursue.

Armstrong says the Blues thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and they wish him nothing but the best in the future.
