Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray pulled
out of the $2.649 million Rogers Cup tennis event, citing a left knee
injury.
The British star suffered the injury while chasing down a forehand shot in his
Wednesday victory on the hardcourts at Toronto's Rexall Centre.
The second-seeded Murray was scheduled to battle 16th-seeded rising Canadian
favorite Milos Raonic on Thursday, but Raonic, instead, moved into the
quarterfinals via walkover.
Murray, who's a two-time Rogers Cup champion, upset Roger Federer in this
past Sunday's marquee men's singles gold-medal match at the All England Club,
where the British star lost to the Swiss great in the Wimbledon finale last
month.
