Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) - Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic was
an easy second-round winner Thursday at the 2012 U.S. Open.
The 12th seed from Serbia blew past Swedish veteran Sofia Arvidsson 6-2, 6-2
in 64 minutes in the first match on Day 4 at Ashe Stadium.
The 24-year-old Ivanovic is a three-time Grand Slam finalist and captured
Roland Garros in 2008.
Thursday's schedule also includes matches for second-seeded Wimbledon runner-
up Agnieszka Radwanska, fourth-seeded three-time U.S. Open champion Serena
Williams and unseeded two-time New York titlist Venus Williams, who should
have her hands full with sixth-seeded German left-hander Angelique Kerber.
Serena beat Radwanska in the Wimbledon final and also captured an Olympic gold
medal at the All England Club last month.
