Negotiations stalled between the NHL and players' union as both sides have been unable to reach a new collective bargaining agreement.
With owners determined to come away with profits, the players union refuses to make more financial concessions after having done so back in 2005.
You may remember the '04-05 season was wiped out due to a lockout, and a lockout cut the '94-95 season down to 48 games.
The St. Louis Blues released a statement saying, "The St. Louis Blues remain hopeful that a new agreement will be reached as soon as possible and that we wil be back on the ice soon. We will be in contact with our season ticket holders, suite holders, and sponsors with plans and options that will be available in the event that games are posponed or cancelled. Single game ticket buyers may keep their tickets or go to the point of purchase for a refund."
The regular season is scheduled to start October 11th.
