St. Louis (KSDK) -- The St. Louis Cardinals could clinch the second wild card spot Monday night.

The Cardinals will play division rivals the Cincinnati Reds in their final series of the regular season. The first game will be at 7:15 p.m. Monday at Busch Stadium.

If the Cardinals win and the Los Angeles Dodgers lose, the Cardinals clinch the second wild card spot.  The Cardinals had a two game lead in the race as of Monday morning.

Major League Baseball added a second wild card team to the playoff format.  The team that locks up the second National League wild card slot will play the Atlanta Braves Friday for a chance to advance to the National League Division Series.
