(Rams Tailgate Show) -- Danny Amendola is making a name for himself, and because of that you can expect the Rams do protect their interest in him. NBC's Mike Florio wrote today that based on Amendola's level of performance so far this season, the Rams may be thinking of applying the franchise tag to him.
Florio says that is something that "would have been unthinkable before the 2012 season. Earlier this year, the Rams applied only a second-round tender offer on Amendola and he drew no interest. Next year, he will."
Rams fans are starting to grow excited about this young team and te prospects of what Coach Jeff Fisher might accomplish with some time. Along with time, Fisher needs talented players, and among those right now with talent, is Amendola. Florio believes "The smart move for the Rams would be to sign Amendola to a long-term deal. At a minimum, he'll be with the team next year on a one-year salary in the neighborhood of $10 million."
Not bad for a guy who was undrafted coming out of Texas Tech in 2009.
