Auckland, New Zealand (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska was a
straight-set winner Friday and advanced to the finals at the ASB
Classic tennis event.
The Wimbledon runner-up Radwanska, of Poland, rolled past Jamie Hampton
7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-3) on the hardcourts at ASB Tennis Centre. Radwanska
had won all three prior meetings with Hampton.
Yanina Wickmayer, the third seed out of Belgium, awaits Radwanska in the
finals after defeating German Mona Barthel 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3). The 2010
champion and 2011 Auckland runner-up will face Radwanska for the third time
in her career.
Radwanska defeated Wickmayer 6-4, 6-4 at the 2011 French Open, but Wickmayer
prevailed, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 at the 2010 Fed Cup.
This event serves as a tune-up for the Australian Open, which starts January
14.
