(KSDK Sports) -- Did you hear the one about the fight between two professional athletes that ended with one biting the other.  Yes, the infamous end to the Tyson - Holyfield fight of 1997, has a cousin, maybe.

Today, St. Louis Post Dispatch writer Jeremy Rutherford tweeted that Blues forward Chris Stewart had accused the Columbus Blue Jackets' Derek Dorsett of biting his hand during a fight Thursday in Columbus.  And that Dorsett denied it.

Rutherford reports:
Stewart said Dorsett bit him on the back of the hand during the scrap. "Yeah, he bit me," said Stewart. "Want to see the teeth marks?"Stewart pleaded his man-bites-man case to officials afterward, but to no avail. He then continued to yell at Dorsett as they went to the penalty box.

Columbus Dispatch reporter Aaron Portzline said he talked to Dorsett, who said if there was any teeth-on-hand contact, it certainly was unintentional.

"It was a fight," Dorsett said. "We were down on the ground. At one point, his fingers were down in my mouth. If ... if ... and this is a big if ... if I bit down, I didn't intentionally bite down."

Blues fans, take note.  The Blues and Blue Jackets will next meet at Scottrade on February 23rd.
