Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Portland Timbers striker Kris Boyd had his
contract terminated by mutual agreement, the club announced on Friday evening.
"We would like to thank Kris for his service to the club and we wish him well
in his future endeavors," Timbers general manager Gavin Wilkinson said.
Boyd, 29, was signed by Portland on Jan. 30, 2012 as a Designated Player. He
appeared in 26 matches, recording seven goals and one assist in his lone
season in Portland.
Before arriving in Portland, Boyd spent 10 seasons in the Scottish Premier
League with Rangers and Kilmarnock, during which time he registered 196 goals
in 296 league appearances.
