A Nike advertisement featuring Oscar Pistorius sprinting out of the blocks bearing the tagline "I am the bullet in the chamber," was quickly pulled from the South African sprinter's website following his arrest on murder charges after his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot to death at his home earlier Thursday morning.
The removal of the unfortunately-phrased endorsement was first noted by British newspaper The Mirror, It's not the only gun association to Pistorius that now looks horrible in hindsight.
The Associated Press unearthed the following tweet from November 2011, which shows Pistorius bragging about his skills at a gun range, along with an accompanying image.
Via OscarPistorius: "Spent the afternoon at the Tormezzo Italian Shooting range. Had a 96% headshot over 300m from 50shots! Bam!"
Obviously, neither of these things are an implication of guilt in Steenkamp's death, but they also aren't the sort of imagery that will be doing him wonders in the court of public opinion either.
