ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Missouri Valley Basketball Conference fans have descended upon St. Louis this weekend. And that has bars and restaurants on Laclede's Landing catering to the wishes of basketball fans from all over the Midwest.
Creighton University has quite presence here. In fact, if not for the world-renowned Gateway Arch, you might just think you were in Omaha.
At the Big Bang piano bar, co-owners Sam Leatherwood and Meredyth Muller say their piano players know theme songs for several different universities.
"We do a lot of research before this weekend," says Muller, "because they've been coming here for many years so we get a lot of repeat business."
Dale Trumble is a Creighton fan who brought friends from Nebraska. They could be seen enjoying adult beverages at the bar in Big Daddy's.
"Well hopefully we win the tournament," says Trumble, "just like we did last year. We came here as the favorite, we're the number-1 seed, and we expect to win the tournament again this year."
Creighton sweatshirts are visible all over downtown St. Louis.
"Yeah, we've almost taken over," said Trumble. "I think we've got like 5,000 people down here, which is pretty good for a small school like Creighton."
