(Ed Staniowski's Mask) -- Welcome to the debut post of "Ed Staniowski's Mask," our new Blues and hockey blog. The title of our blog is based on my favorite Blues goalie from the mid-70s. My favorite memory was going to a game with Jeff Bernstein and watching Ed Staniowski, beat the legendary Montreal Canadians. In my childhood memory banks, the Blues won 7-2, but what I really wanted more than the win, was that awesome mask.
From here on out, under this by-line we will attempt to bring you our own opinions regarding the St. Louis Blues, as well as serve as as a platform for other hockey writers both nationally and locally.
We invite anyone who is writing or blogging on the Blues to share their columns with us, in the hopes that we can help you reach an even broader audience.
Today's match up vs. rival Sharks
The Blues will be taking on the San Jose Sharks on the left coast later this afternoon. As far as rivalries go, there is not team, not even the Blackhawks or Red Wings, that makes my bile boil than the creeps in teal. I loathe the Sharks, and have since the early years of the decade when the Blues and Sharks seemed to match up every year.
With the new re-alignment apparently on the horizon, it's goal is to re-ignite rivalries. Well for the Blues, that appears to be the happening in reverse, we lose the Red Wings and there is something about Nashville that makes them hard to hate, but I'll try.
But for pure teeth grinding, fist pumping fan based hatred, my money is on the Sharks.
"Creeps in teal." I like that line.
