CHICAGO, Ill. (Sports Network) - Kevin Shattenkirk scored the winner in the sixth round of the shootout as the St. Louis Blues took a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.
In the sixth round after Brian Elliott stopped Michal Handzus, Shattenkirk skated in on net and buried a wrister past Corey Crawford for the win.
Adam Cracknell scored his first two goals of the season while David Backes also scored for the Blues, who have won their past two. Elliott stopped 33 shots in the win.
The win gives St. Louis 40 points on the season as the team moved into the eighth spot in the Western Conference.
Jonathan Toews had a goal and an assist while Brandon Saad and Viktor Stalberg also scored for the Western Conference-leading Blackhawks, who had a two-game winning streak stopped. Crawford made just 19 stops in the game.
