(KSDK Sports) -- At the end of the season, the overall success of a team could be based on how many rubber games they win, and how many series' they win.
Today the Cardinals did both. Jake Westbrook tossed his fourth career shutout in the St. Louis Cardinals' 10-0 rout of the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game set.
Westbrook (1-1) surrendered just five hits and four walks in the gem for the Cardinals, who have won four of their last five games.
Matt Carpenter smacked a two-run homer among his four hits, while Carlos Beltran and Matt Adams added two-run shots. Jon Jay smacked a solo blast in the triumph.
Homer Bailey (1-1) allowed seven runs on nine hits and three walks over five frames for Cincinnati, which dropped the final two games of the set after winning the opener.
