ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - There will be about 40,000 runners in London Sunday morning.
The London Marathon is one of the biggest sporting events in that country, and there won't be a competitor in that field with a bigger heart than a woman from St. Louis named Teri Griege.
She had her bags packed early, along with plenty of protein bars and her Boston Marathon hat.
Teri Griege, 51, has been training three to four days a week, about 45 miles, for the London Marathon.
She wants to do it because she's had a goal to run in the five majors: Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and now London.
After the tragedy in Boston, Griege is not afraid to run in London.
She also has battled stage 4 colon cancer since 2009. That means when she gets back from London Monday, it will be time for chemo on Tuesday.
She will have company on this marathon, husband Dave will run with her and cross the finish with her just like they did for the St. Louis Marathon.
"I am thinking he will have to slow down for me," she said.
