Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The final 15 minutes the game once again proved fruitful for the San Jose Earthquakes, who scored the equalizer in the 76th minute through Cordell Cato to earn a 2-2 draw at The Home Depot Center against Chivas USA on Saturday.

Chris Wondolowski netted the opening goal in the 40th minute of an otherwise forgettable first half.

But Chivas came out firing in the second half and scored twice in the first six minutes to take a 2-1 lead as Mario De Luna and Tristan Bowen both managed to beat goalkeeper Jon Busch.

However, Cato had the final say as he came off the bench to claim a point for the Earthquakes, who have failed to win any of their last five games.

Chivas failed to put a shot on target in the first half and posed little threat going forward, which allowed San Jose to generate the best chances and capitalize five minutes before the break.

Shea Salinas set up the goal when he whipped a free kick to the front of the net for Wondolowski, who got free from his defender and volleyed the ball inside the left post.

The hosts got a bit of good fortune with the equalizer in the 47th minute as Jorge Villafana's cross was punched by Busch but hit straight into De Luna, pushing the ball over the goal line.

Villafana had a hand in the second goal four minutes later when he set up a first-time shot for Bowen that beat Busch.

Chivas defended desperately the rest of the way, but after goal-line clearances from both De Luna and Joaquin Velazquez, the Goats defense was finally breached 14 minutes from time.

Salinas once again got down the wing and delivered a cross toward the penalty spot for Cato, who placed a first-time effort inside the left post to snatch a point for his side.
