(KSDK Sports) -- The St. Louis Rams gained a bit more respect in the NFL with the arrival of head coach Jeff Fisher, who has led this team from i's dismal 2-14 record in 2011, to a much improved 7-8-1 last year in which they did dominate the competitive NFC West.

The Rams have made progress in the offseason as well, and few are questioning the improvement the team made with want could be a stellar draft class.  But despite all the progress and the renewed attitude at Rams Park, most experts are still not ready to give the Rams any love when it comes to getting far in the 2013 post season.

According to pregame.com, St. Louis is not expected to contend for anything other than a mediocre finish. Offshore bookmaker 5Dimes has the Rams listed as a +7000 money line selection ($100 wins $7000) in its latest 2014 Super Bowl Odds and they are a +800 play to win the NFC West.

If the odds maker's at 5Dimes are correct, the Rams may not exceed last year's win total either as they are favored, at -130 odds, to win fewer than 7.5 games.

Early NFL game lines from Vegas based Cantor Gaming would seemingly concur with 5Dimes projections regarding the Rams. Cantor has St. Louis favored in just four of its 15 lined games (Week 17 was excluded) and listed as a Pick'em in only one contest, a week 14 meeting with the Cardinals in Arizona.
