(KSDK Sports) -- The rumor mills is swirling this morning. Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune wrote today that the White Sox turned down a offer from the Cardinals featuring Carlos Martinez. The deal, according to Gonzalez was for shortstop Alexi Ramirez.
Martinez, 21, has split time this season a three levels, from Springfield (AA), Memphis (AAA) and now is on his second stint in St. Louis. So far this year in the minors, he is 4-2 with at 2.05 ERA.
If true, the Cardinals are clearly open to moving one of their three top prospects and as Frank Cusumano mentioned last week during our Mid Season Special, Carlos Martinez would be offered before either Oscar Taveras or Michael Wacha.
