ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Since we've been hitting some record temperatures this week, it's time for some cooler thoughts.
Hockey season is right around the corner, and the St. Louis Blues are holding the team's first practice Thursday.
But one of their key players will not be on the ice. When the Blues hit the ice at Scottrade Thursday afternoon, Alex Pietrangelo is not expected to be there. The team says talks have broken down between the two sides on a new contract.
The defenseman is a restricted free agent. That means if he gets offers from other teams, the Blues have a chance to match the offer, and the general manager of the team made it clear that Pietrangelo was going to be with the Blues at some point, because they will match any offer.
Training camp starts at 12 p.m. It's free and open to the public.
A list of practice times can be found on the St. Louis Blues' website.
The regular season starts Oct. 3.
