Coach Fisher has plan for third preseason game

(KSDK Sports) -- The preseason schedule doesn't get any easier for the 0-2 Rams, as they began preparation today to take on Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.

With as much hype as the Broncos have been receiving this preseason asearly favorites to win it all,the Broncos haven't been overly impressive on the field thus far. No one in Broncos camp appears to be panicking, but it is not a stretch to say they got manhandled by the ever improving Seattle Seahawks last week.

In that game, Denver's first team never appeared to get going and Manning appeared ineffective, but Manning has always said not to look for much for him in the preseason.

The Rams will be setting their game plan for a Broncos running attack that has yet to emerge. Montee Ball, who is expected to be the number 1, averaged 4.7 yards per carry last week against the Seahawks defense. As for the receivers, Julius Thomas has had a fine preseason catching four more balls for 70 yards in week 2 while Damaryius Thomas and Wes Welker had three catches each.

Defensively the Broncos are a mess. They gave up 40 points to Seattle, who appeared to have their way, moving the ball effortlessly. And the unit's off the field issues continue to be front page news. It has become clear that Von Miller will miss at least a quarter of the regular season or as many as six games.

Despite the lack of scoring from Sam Bradford and the first team, the Rams played fairly well in their loss to the Green Bay Packers and this week, Coach Jeff Fisher is focusing on the positives. Sam Bradford passed for 156 yards but he fumbled away his best scoring chance.

The Rams running game will have different look against Denver as we should see much more of Daryl Richardson after the Packers shut downIsaiah Pead, who was able to gain just 19 yards on 11 carries.

Rams Nation should also get more looks at what may become a dynamic receiving duo of Tavon Austin and Chris Givens. Austin had four receptions and Chris Givens continued his strong preseason with a 57 yard catch. On defense Robert Quinn had a sack for St. Louis and he figures to have a solid season while Janoris Jenkins, James Laurinaitis, and Cortland Finnegan all got in on the tackling.
