Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - Nate Tomlinson hit 1-of-2 free throws with a
second to play, giving the Colorado Buffaloes a 72-71 win over the Oregon
Ducks in a Pac-12 battle at the Coors Events Center.
Askia Booker scored 17 points and Spencer Dinwiddie netted 16 for Colorado
(16-7, 8-3 Pac-12). Carlon Brown chipped in 10 points for the Buffs, who have
won five of their last six games.
For Oregon (16-7, 7-4), Devoe Joseph had 18 points and E.J. Singler tallied a
double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Olu Ashaolu added 17 points and
nine rebounds for the Ducks.
Oregon took a 37-33 lead into the halftime locker room behind 41.2 percent
shooting. Colorado hit just 37.5 percent of its shots, including 0-of-8 from
three-point range.
The Buffs went on a 9-0 run midway through the second half to take a 50-46
lead, but the Ducks answered with a 9-3 run of their own to retake the lead,
58-53 with 7:07 remaining. There were several more lead-changes down the
stretch and an Ashaolu basket for Oregon with 7.6 seconds remaining tied the
game at 71-71. Ashaolu was also fouled on the play but missed the free throw
that would have given the Ducks the lead. Tomlinson brought the ball up and
was fouled in the waning seconds, hitting the one free throw the Buffs needed
to pull off the win.
The Duck's foul shooting hurt them, going just 10-of-17 for the game. The
Buffs went 23-of-30 from the line.
