San Marcos, TX (Sports Network) - Shaun Rutherford threw for 182 yards and
also rushed for 85 to lead the Texas State Bobcats to a 38-7 rout of the Idaho
Vandals in a Western Athletic Conference contest at Bobcat Stadium.
Rutherford completed 14-of-19 passes and had a passing and rushing touchdown
for Texas State (3-3, 1-0 WAC). Marcus Curry rushed for 84 yards and a
touchdown as well for the Bobcats.
Dominique Blackman completed 14-of-28 passes for 161 yards but was intercepted
once for Idaho (1-6, 1-1). James Baker had a team-high 48 yards rushing while
Jahrie Level caught five passes for 87 yards.
Texas State had a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter after a 31-yard
touchdown pass from Rutherford to Andy Erickson and a nine-yard run from
Rutherford.
Idaho scored its lone touchdown of the game with just over five minutes left
in the first half on a three-yard touchdown run by Baker.
In the second half Texas State rolled up 24 unanswered points. First Terrence
Franks scored on a five-yard touchdown run. Then Will Johnson connected on a
35-yard field goal. Curry ran in a 24-yard touchdown and Duke DeLancellotti
finished off the scoring with a six-yard run.
Texas State had more than 200 more yards of total offense (519-315) than
Idaho.
