Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Anthon Samuel ran for 181 yards and two
touchdowns on 29 carries as Bowling Green took a 26-14 win over Ohio on
Wednesday.
Matt Schilz was 7-for-17 with 91 yards and a touchdown pass while Chris Gallon
caught the touchdown on a 55-yard score for the Falcons (7-3, 5-1 MAC), who
have won their past six games.
Tyler Tettleton passed for 145 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-34 attempts
while Beau Blankenship had 18 carries for 97 yards for the Bobcats (8-2, 4-2),
who have dropped two of their past three.
Ohio began the game with the ball and the drive proved successful as the 11th
play of the 72-yard march saw Tettleton take the ball in himself from five
yards out for a 7-0 lead with just over nine minutes to play in the first
quarter.
The score stayed that way until the first play of the second quarter when
Bowling Green tied the contest on a 15-yard run into the end zone by Samuel.
The drive was set up on a blocked punt by Brian Sutton that was recovered at
the Ohio 20.
Following another Ohio punt, Bowling Green needed just five plays to find the
end zone as Schilz and Gallon hooked up on a 55-yard score for a 14-7 lead.
Tyler Tate added a 35-yard field goal on the Falcons' next touch with 1:46
left, and the defense added two points as a low snap on a punt slipped through
the hands of Matt Weller and he was tackled in the end zone after recovering
to make it a 19-7 game at the break.
Ohio's first drive of the second half proved as fruitful as it's opening drive
of the first half as Tettleton and Chase Cochran got together for a 3-yard
score to make it a 19-14 game with 6:54 to play in the third.
However, the team had another punt blocked later in the third and Bowling
Green recovered at the Ohio 29. That led to a 4-yard TD run by Samuel on the
first play of the fourth quarter and that was the final score of the game as
Ohio later failed on a fourth down at the Bowling Green 29 late in the game.
