Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Ryan Manuel had a double-double of 24 points and
11 rebounds as the SMU Mustangs sprinted to an 83-70 victory over the Rider
Broncs as part of the Hoops for Hope Classic at Moody Coliseum.
SMU (5-0) also got 20 points from Cannen Cunningham, 15 from Jalen Jones and
12 more from Nick Russell. The Mustangs have yet to lose in their first season
under head coach Larry Brown.
Anthony Myles paced Rider (2-3) with 19 points. Nurideen Lindsey added 14 and
Jonathon Thompson chipped in 10.
Both teams shot well in the first half. SMU connected on 53.8 percent of its
shots while Rider hit on 48.0 percent. The Mustangs led 38-34 at the break.
In the second half SMU got even better hitting on 62.5 percent of its field
goal attempts while putting in 22-of-28 from the free throw line.
The Mustangs had a 32-23 edge in rebounds and a 32-24 advantage on points in
the paint.
