Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Daniel Stewart scored 21 points as the
Rider Broncs defeated the Drexel Dragons, 75-66,in a non-conference tilt at
the Daskalakis Athletic Center..
Jonathon Thompson added 14 points and Nurideen Lindsey finished with 12 points
for the Broncs (5-4).
For the Dragons (2-5) Damion Lee scored a career-high 28 points, while Derrick
Thomas scored 13 points and Frantz Massenat chipped in with 10 points.
Rider shot 39.1 percent from the field to open the game. Drexel was a little
better, making 41.7 percent of its field goal attempts, as the Dragons took a
slim lead at the break, 31-30.
After intermission, the Dragons sagged a bit from field, making just 37.9
percent of their field goal attempts, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range.
The Broncs heated up significantly, connecting on 64 percent from the field
and 3-of-4 from beyond the 3-point arc. Drexel led by nine early in the
second half, but a 14-0 run by Rider midway through the half gave the visitors
a five-point lead at 51-46. The Dragons were able to knot the contest at
60-60 with four minutes to play, but the Broncs responded with a 11-2 run
to put the contest away and leave with the road victory.
Rider dominated the paint, outscoring Drexel 34-24. The Bronc bench outscored
their counterparts on the Dragons, 21-9.
