Elon, NC (Sports Network) - Elon senior wide receiver Aaron Mellette has
accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.
He will become the second player from the school to participate in a Division I
football all-star game.
"It's a blessing and an honor to receive an invitation to Senior Bowl,"
Mellette said. "I can't wait to go down there and make Elon and my hometown of
Sanford proud. This is a great opportunity for me to display my skills and
show that I can play with these guys. I was very shocked when Coach (Jason)
Swepson called me in and showed me the invitation, but I was filled with a lot
of joy at the same time."
Mellette finished his career as one of the top receivers in Southern
Conference history. As a senior this season, he totaled 97 receptions for
18 touchdowns and 1,398 yards in 11 games. He ranks second in the FCS in

game).
Over his career, he caught 304 passes for 4,254 yards and 44 touchdowns with 23
100-yard receiving games. Each mark ranks second to Terrell Hudgins in SoCon
and Elon history.
