Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Despite missing all nine of his field
goal attempts in the first half, Jordon Crawford finished with 14 points to
lead the Bowling Green Falcons over the Samford Bulldogs, 57-42, at the Stroh
Center.
For the Falcons (5-4), A'uston Calhoun added 12 points and Chauncey Orr
finished with 11 as the team picked up a second straight win and the fourth in
the last five outings.
Raijon Kelly led the Bulldogs (2-9) with 14 points, adding six assists and
five rebounds, while Tim Williams just missed a double-double with 12 points
and nine rebounds.
Samford shot 52.6 percent from the field in the first half, as it took a
27-17 lead into the break. Bowling Green managed to shoot just 29.6 percent
from the field and missed all five of its three-point attempts in the opening
period.
After the break the Falcons shot much better, connecting on 47.8 percent of
their field goal attempts, including 4-of-10 from beyond the three-point arc.
At the same time the Bulldogs went cold, converting just 27.3 percent from the
field, including only 1-of-8 from three-point range. After trailing by two,
35-33, midway through the period, Bowling Green used a 19-1 run to take
control of the game and send the Bulldogs to their second straight defeat.
The Falcons made the most of the Bulldogs' mistakes, converting 15 turnovers
into 23 points. BGSU also outscored Samford 15-6 at the free-throw line.
