Cheney, WA (Sports Network) - Jordan Richardson scored 15 points as he helped
guide the Weber State Wildcats to a 74-53 win over the Eastern Washington
Eagles in the Big Sky Conference opener for both programs at Reese Court.
Also scoring in double figures for Weber State (5-3, 1-0 Big Sky) was Kyle
Tresnak with 14 points, while Joel Bolomboy delivered nine points, 12 rebounds
and four blocked shots off the bench as the team won for the fourth time in
the last five outings.
The Eagles (2-9, 0-1) were paced by Venky Jois who tallied a game-high 21
points, adding five rebounds and four blocked shots of his own, but still the
team bowed for the fourth time in as many games. Justin Crosgile chipped in 11
points, although he shot just 4-of-14 from the floor.
WSU scored the first points of the game and never looked back, registering a
37-26 lead at the break after holding the Eagles to a mere 28.1 percent from
the floor, including 2-of-10 behind the 3-point line.
In the second half the Wildcats made good on an impressive 57.1 percent from
the floor, converting 5-of-9 beyond the arc in order to run away with the 21-
point win.
The hosts finished the meeting with just 34.0 percent accuracy from the field,
4-of-16 on the perimeter and 13-of-23 at the free-throw line.
