Hartford, CT (Sports Network) - Ryan Boatright poured in 26 points as
the Connecticut Huskies defeated the Fordham Rams, 88-73, at the XL Center.
Boatright was one assist shy of a double-double in the Connecticut (9-2)
victory. Shabazz Napier scored 19 points and recorded seven rebounds. Omar
Calhoun chipped in 17 points and DeAndre Daniels tacked on 10 points.
For the Rams (3-8), Branden Frazier also scored 26 points to go
with five assists. Chris Gaston was the only other Ram player in double
figures with 11 points and six rebounds.
Connecticut ran out to a 57-28 at the end of the first half. The Huskies
made 8-of-16 shots from beyond the arc while limiting the Rams to 11-of-24
from the floor.
The Huskies cooled to 40.0 percent shooting in the second half and missed all
five attempts from beyond the arc. Fordham hit on 45.7 percent of its shots
in the second frame but couldn't dig itself out of the first half deficit.
Connecticut forced 21 turnovers and made 18-of-22 free throw attempts.
