Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - Zaccheus Mason scored 26 points and brought
down 13 rebounds to lead the Chattanooga Mocs to a 76-69 victory over the Utah
Valley Wolverines in the title game of the Dr. Pepper Classic at McKenzie
Arena.
Ronrico White and Gee McGhee each added 11 points for Chattanooga (5-8) which
has won three straight.
Holton Hunsaker scored a career-high 37 points and nailed eight 3-pointers in
the loss for Utah Valley (7-9). Alfonzo Hubbard added 12 points and Ben Aird
brought in 13 rebounds.
Chattanooga held a slim 30-27 lead at halftime after connecting on just
12-of-32 shots from the field. Utah Valley hit only 10-of-26 shots in the
first half.
Both teams shot at a 41.9 percent clip in the second half and the Wolverines
nailed eight 3-pointers. The Mocs managed to earn the victory by outscoring
the Mocs 16-8 from the free throw line in the second half.
These teams were meeting in the Dr. Pepper Classic title game for the second
-straight season. Chattanooga also came out on top last year with a 74-59
victory.
