Poughkeepsie, NY (Sports Network) - Andrew Lawrence scored 22 points, leading
four starters in double figures, as the College of Charleston posted an 85-75
win over the Marist Red Foxes in non-conference play at McCann Field House.
Also scoring in double digits for the Cougars (9-4) were Anthony Stitt with 19
points, Willis Hall 14, to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds, and Adjehi
Baru with 12 points as the team won for the fourth straight game.
The Red Foxes (4-9), losers of three in a row and four of the last five, were
paced by Chavaughn Lewis with a game-high 23 points, adding seven rebounds and
three steals before fouling out. Dorvell Carter chipped in 19 points and Manny
Thomas 13 in the setback.
Charleston shot a solid 50 percent from the floor in the first half, but the
Red Foxes remained within striking distance at the break, 45-38, thanks to a
5-of-10 showing behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes of
action.
In the second half the Cougars increased their shooting accuracy to 53.8
percent in order to hold on for the victory.
In addition to shooting 8-of-17 beyond the arc on the afternoon, the visitors
also held a 40-26 rebounding advantage, limiting Marist to just three
offensive rebounds.
