Rosemont, IL (Sports Network) - Aaron Cosby's career-high 24 points led the
Seton Hall Pirates to a 73-72 road victory over the DePaul Blue Demons at
Allstate Arena in their Big East Conference opener.
A pair of Seton Hall (12-2, 1-0 Big East) forwards registered double-doubles
with Brandon Mobley tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds while Eugene Teague
finished with 11 points and 15 boards. Fuquan Edwin scored 11 points and
dished out five assists.
DePaul (9-5, 0-1) was led by Jamee Crockett's 16 points and five steals.
Brandon Young netted 15 points while Durrell McDonald shot 5-of-6 from the
floor for 12 points. Charles McKinney had 10 points.
Seton Hall led 40-33 at halftime after shooting 56 percent from the field. The
advantage could have been greater, but 12 first half turnovers hurt the
Pirates.
Trailing by one point late in the game, Edwin got himself free on an inbounds
play and scored to put the Pirates ahead. After a timeout, DePaul
had two opportunities to win the game, however it lost after being unable to
get a shot to fall in the closing seconds.
DePaul fell to 1-7 in Big East openers since joining the conference.
