New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Ricky Tarrant scored 21 points and Josh
Davis nearly recorded a triple-double as the Tulane Green Wave earned a 75-72
victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a Conference USA battle at Devlin
Fieldhouse.
Davis scored 19 points, collected 11 rebounds and dished out eight assists
while Kendall Timmons added 12 points for Tulane (13-5, 1-2 C-USA) which
earned its first win in league play.
James Woodard finished with 21 points for Tulsa (11-8, 3-2) which had won
four of its previous five. Pat Swilling (13), Shaquille Harrison (11) and
Scottie Haralson (10) all scored in double figures as well for the Golden
Hurricane.
Tulane got out to a 36-30 lead at the break by shooting 44 percent from the
field including a 6-of-16 effort from beyond the arc. Tulsa shot a superior
46.2 percent but made just 3-of-10 shots from 3-point range.
The Golden Hurricane opened the second half on a 16-5 run to take its largest
lead of the game at 47-41. The Green Wave responded later in the period by
ripping off an 18-7 run to take the lead for good.
Tulsa was the dominant team on the inside outscoring Tulane 34-22 on points
in the paint while holding a 37-29 edge on the boards. The Green Wave nailed
10 shots from 3-point range to compensate.
