Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Cedric Jenkins scored 13 points off the
bench as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles made easy work of the UAB Blazers,
74-59, in Conference USA action at Reed Green Coliseum.
Dwayne Davis added 12 points and seven rebounds for Southern Miss (15-4, 4-0
C-USA), while Neil Watson chipped in 11 points and four steals. Jonathan Mills
netted 10 points for the Eagles, who have won a season-high seven straight
games.
For UAB (8-10, 0-3), Terence Jones scored 15 points and Robert Williams had 12
points. The Blazers are now losers of four in a row.
Southern Miss outshot UAB from the field in the first half, 43.5 percent to 36
percent, and it also drained 15-of-21 from the foul line as it took a 38-27
lead at intermission.
UAB improved its field goal percentage to 45.8 percent after the break, but it
never got closer than eight points of the lead.
Southern Miss won the turnover battle, 20-8, and it turned those UAB miscues
into 21 points.
