Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Trey Finn scored 17 points for the Arkansas
State Red Wolves as they completed a 63-39 rout of the ULM Warhawks in a Sun
Belt Conference tilt at the Convocation Center.
Finn was 6-of-11 from the field and knocked down three 3-pointers for the Red
Wolves (11-7, 5-4 SBC), who snapped their two-game losing streak. Ed Townsel
added 13 points and four steals while Brandon Peterson managed a double-double
of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Jayon James led the Warhawks (3-12, 2-7 SBC) in scoring with 11 points to go
with five rebounds and four assists. James had seven turnovers for ULM, which
has now lost four consecutive games. Millaun Brown was the only other ULM
player to score in double-figures with 10 points and six rebounds. Amos
Olatayo was the squad's key rebounder as he pulled down 11 boards with seven
points.
ASU led 29-25 at halftime despite shooting just 36.7 percent from the field in
the first stanza.
In the second half, the Red Wolves shot 48.0 percent from the field and held
ULM to just 25.0 percent shooting to outscore the Warhawks by 20 points in the
final 20 minutes.
ULM turned the ball over 19 times which led to 24 points for Arkansas State,
which was guilty of only nine miscues that the Warhawks converted into a mere
six points.
