Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Travis Releford led the Jayhawks with 12
points and No.3 Kansas grinded out a 59-55 victory over 11th-ranked Kansas
State on Tuesday.
Jeff Withey scored 11 points to go with 10 rebounds and despite foul trouble
in the first half, Ben McLemore finished with 11 points to help the Jayhawks
(17-1, 5-0 Big 12) to their 16th straight victory.
Kansas State (15-3, 4-1) experienced its first conference loss of the season
and saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end. Shane Southwell scored
19 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the defeat.
Angel Rodriguez followed with 12 points and eight assists, but was held
scoreless in the second half as the Wildcats fell to the Jayhawks for the 45th
time in their last 48 meetings.
